Welcome to the PTA
Welcome to the website of the Guernsey Grammar School PTA. We hope you will find this site useful and will visit regularly to keep up to date with the various events we organise throughout the year.
COURTYARD PROJECT
The main courtyard, which has in the past been a significant fundraising project, continues to be a focal point for the school. It is now the time of year that we are going to re-plant some of the containers and assess what items of furniture require maintenance. We hold an annual lottery to provide funding for this - the draw was held in January 2009 and the prizes for 2008 have been sent out. The lucky winners of the £40 prizes were D Cave, D Lesbirel, K Ashplant, J Bradley, R Froome, D Breban, A Brown, S Crowson, H Shorey, K Stubbington, D Best and C Lowe and the £20 prize winners were K Taylor, S Williams, M Le Prevost, G Parrott, C Ingrouille, A Nicholas, C Rolf, M Hookey, M Aguir, J Robison, J Neill and S Palfrey.
As the Courtyard remains an ongoing project and an important asset to the school your continuing support towards its maintenance and development is very much appreciated. Should we find that we have any surplus funds they will be applied towards our next major project which is providing a minibus for the school.
General Fundraising
The recent Winter Quiz raised an excellent £1,033. Our Annual Fayre (November 2008) raised in excess of £10,000 for which we are very grateful. Many thanks are due yet again to Melodonia, in conjunction with JVC, for their wonderful support in providing the top prizes in the Annual Fayre main raffle.
The continued success of our fundraising has allowed us to provide the necessary funds (approx £14,000) for the school to acquire a laser cutter that is used by the Design and Technology Department. It is the only one on the island and we are happy that students at other schools should be allowed access to it if that can be arranged.
We also raise significant funds through our Year 7 Quiz night and Fashion Show. These and other events have allowed us to make further donations.
Our next main fundraising target, subject to suitable permissions being granted, is to acquire a minibus for the school which, we hope, will provide a useful and helpful item. All things being equal, we should be in the position to buy one later this year (2009) so your continued support is therefore very much appreciated.
